Dear Gobeee at Twitter,
Twitter chose to suspend and then shut down various Twitter accounts associated with #OpESR without explanation. As you may or may not be aware,
#OpESR is a movement that began with nationwide protests in the United States on Flag Day, 6/14. The movement is described in many different ways by its adherents, but at its roots, it has the purpose of completely transforming institutions, beginning with financial institutions, in our society. You can find a written statement and further information at XXXXXXXXXXXXXX about it. It was just a few days’ time before those legal, nonviolent actions on 6/14 began that Twitter, without notification, shut down @OKCCamp and every other Camp twitter address, and the intended use of the @OKCCamp and other Camp twitter addresses was (and is) to facilitate ongoing dialogue in the twittersphere about financial institutional transformation as well as provide a vehicle for announcement of possible further actions and potential #acampada styled gatherings.
It is hoped that you will restore @OKCCamp just as Twitter has already restored @SFCamp and @NYCCamp – Technically, the subject of this request of this message was to get @OKCCamp restored. But since you have asked for a list of ALL of the accounts that Twitter has suspended (and which Twitter has now basically shut down), here they are in hopes that you will restore them (I do not mention in this list @SFCamp and @NYCCamp since Twitter has already restored those accounts):
@OKCCamp
@WA_Camp
@DC_Camp
@WICamp
@FlintCamp
@ChiTownCamp
These accounts are established geographically and again, are intended to facilitate ongoing dialogue in the twittersphere about financial institutional transformation as well as provide a vehicle for announcement of possible further actions and potential #acampada styled gatherings.
Generating these twitter addresses did NOT violate any twitter rules as
described in http://support.twitter.com/articles/18311 . This is because:
1) There was no impersonation in the generation of accounts
2) There were no trademark issues that arose
3) No-one’s personal and confidential information was published
4) No threats of violence are tolerated
5) No copyright infringement occurs in tweets that originate from said accounts
6) No unlawful use (this returns to the issue of promotion of nonviolent
action) occurs
7) No misuse of Twitter badges has occurred
8) No serial accounts have been created for disruptive or abusive purposes - as promotion of nonviolent action or encouraging people to take out of the box thinking about their financial institutions is not disruptive or abusive. It may be uncomfortable to you or to some, but it is certainly not
a disruptive or abusive use of Twitter. By the way…. what was it that Twitter was doing while Twitter accounts were being set up in the Middle East, North Africa, and now, Europe (think, democraciareal) – Is Twitter just a little bit uncomfortable that nonviolent protest is happening in the U.S.?
9) Likewise, there has been no squatting, invitation spam, selling of usernames, malware/phishing, or spam generally, nor are the accounts pornographic nor are the tweets that have been issued from them.
Please restore the @OKCCamp and the other accounts listed as soon as possible in order to permit the free and open flow of ideas within the twittersphere.
